The National Electric System Operator (ONS) reduced rainfall in the South and Southeast hydroelectric region in December, but precipitation is still close to the average for the period, at 99 percent of the historical index in both, compared to 126 and 101 percent estimated the previous week, respectively.
In a report on Friday, the power sector still slightly raised the projection for the energy load in the Brazilian interconnected system this month. According to the document, the load is expected to grow 2.6 percent compared to the same month last year, against a forecast of a high of 2.5 percent in the previous week.
