
In a report, Statistics Canada said gross domestic product (GDP) grew 0.2% in September from the previous month, exceeding expectations of an increase of 0.1% and better than the contraction of 0.1% in the month above.
In quarterly terms, Canada's economy grew at an annualized rate of 1.7% in the third quarter, compared to expectations that growth was 1.6% from 4.3% previously (percentage already revised for down from the reading of 4.5%).
Following the report, which was released simultaneously with the unemployment rate in the country in November, the USD / CAD pair was trading at 1.2800 from around 1.2878 before disclosure of the data.
